You and the other player (Benju27) both had 8 points. You had 30 tiebreak points to their 32 tiebreak points, so the other player moved on.

I presume you do not understand how tiebreak points are accumulated, so here is a link for you:

    http://www.chess.com/tournaments/help.html#tiebreak

    See also:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonneborn-Berger_system

Essentially what this comes down to is that wins against opponents higher in your pairing are worth more than wins against opponents lower in your pairing.

Here is the actual math if you're interested:

    Benju27:

One win vs. lilsid = 8 pts

    Two wins vs. elizabethlonevid = 2x6 = 12 pts

    One win vs. time237 = 4 pts

    Two wins vs. midkn21n = 2x4 = 8 pts

    Two wins vs. Lancelot2010 = 0 pts

For a total of 32 tiebreak points

    lilsid:

    One win vs. Benju27 = 8 pts

One win vs. elizabethlonevid = 6 pts

    Two wins vs. time237 = 2x4 = 8 pts

    Two wins vs. midkn21n = 2x4 = 8 pts

    Two wins vs. Lancelot2010 = 0 pts

For a total of 30 tiebreak points

Thanks alot for the reply. Seems to me like a loss to lower ranked player should also be taken into consideration as well. I lost my 2 games to higher ranked players. Benju27 lost his 2 games to lower ranked players. Why does that have no bearing?

Tiebreakers have arbitrary rules, that's all.

The tiebreakers only account for wins, not losses.
