An English tournament sounds good. When I played scholastic chess 7 years ago, only one other person played the English against me. He went 6-0 and won the tournament. But I played the English three times that day, and played the Sicilian three times as well (no one really used 1. d4 I guess). I believe I went 2-0-1 with the English (and 1-1-1 with the Sicilian) so I have some fond memories of good-old 1. c4 :)

Of course, I wonder how unexpected the English is now, given the proliferation of chess engines and the growth of online chess. I play some throwback English games every now and then, but the computer says my opening of c4, Nc3, g3, and Bg2 is flawed =/
