first i would like to express my appreciation to the tournament organizers..they have done a marvellous job on here.

there is one thing that i dont understand, its about the tiebreaks! what is it in fact?? i see in the standings that all the players have tiebreaks and players having won same number of games as me have a greater tiebreak than me. Can anyone please tell me what this tiebreak represents.

thanks

i think its just about rating of the players you faced and your performance

thanks Thegoobkid. well if this is the case, does it affect the final standing???

There must be some logical method that is used to accumulate points for tie breaking. I would like to know the elements involved. I could not find it in the chess encyclopedia here on line. So I asked a tournament organizer and he will reply soon.

I will share here the info.

From the Tournament FAQ page ( http://www.chess.com/tournaments/help.html ):

If 2 players in a group have the same score then both will advance. Tournament Directors can choose to use an additional tie-break method (we use the Neustadtl score) which factors in the strength of the opponents. If two players have the same score and the same Tie Break score, both will advance.

 ...

A player's tiebreak score is calculated by adding the sum of the player's points they have defeated to half the sum of the player's points they have drawn against.
