Timeout %

Hi everyone, I wanted to ask for peoples opinions and to possibly find a solution to a problem I have.

I joined the site a few months back (infact, also only learnt hot to play chess a few months back). I feel I am pretty reliable as a site member but I had a period of about a week where I couldn't get online regularly after moving to a new place; subsequently, timing out in around 5 games over the period.

Other than this week, I have never been close to timing out and am now starting to build my rating back up as I am learning (currently at 1206 but hopefully will go up looking at a few games I am playing).

However, I'd like to play in tournaments but all say I need a timeout % of less than 10% but mine is currently at 25%. This means I'll need to play another 25 games to get back to 10%.

I don't want to go down the road of creating another account and drawing 25 games against myself because I feel this isn't quite right but I don't see any other way except waiting for a considerable time until 25 games have passed.

I fully understand why the timeout % is there but could there be a better way of making sure of the reliability of players? Would it be possible to group the timed out games into periods to eliminate freak periods (such as my own)? Or maybe there is another way? Or maybe it should stay how it is?

Whatever you do don't create another account and play 25 games against yourself, even if they're all draws, you could get banned from the site for that. You'll have to see if you can play more games at once and play the 25 games.
