I have noticed that the rating filter on player organized tournaments does not work. I am in several tournaments right now, some of which I organized myself, where people have ratings higher or lower than those allowed. Does it only filter players when they register and not when the tournament begins? Or does it not really do anything at all and we are on the honor system?

I don't know :(

If a player is rated 1750 (for example) when he joins a 1601 - 1800 tournament, then while waiting for the tournament to start, wins some of his standard games, his ratings increases and possibly goes above 1800. Its up to the tournament director to remove anyone outside of the ratings bracket before the tournament begins.
If its an official Chess.com tournament, he should be automatically be moved to the correct rating bracket group before it beings.
well it happened to me that a 2000 player would join a <1500 tournament or so
Odd, which tournament ?
I don't remember now, I just remember seeing it :(
I also remember being invited to lower-rated tournaments and I was able to join. It was a few months ago though, maybe 3 or 4. Guess it's fixed now, I didn't see it recently

So is it safe to say that only first place of each pairing moves on or does top two? Let me know please & thank you.
BlackNight_13
it depends on the tourney format: on the tournament homepage, it should say "# advance", or something like that

Turn-based (Correspondence style / Days per move) chess is accessed from the PLAY -> Online Chess -> Start New Game menu.
Fast chess (Live Chess / Minutes or seconds per move) is accessed from PLAY -> Live Chess.
two question:
1. If i register to one tournament and before starting the tournament i got regret of participating in it, how can i remove myself from tournament?
2. for participating in tournaments they needed one rating,is that rating our highest rating in different modes ( like: Live, Blitz, turn-base ) or just turn-based will consider?
please answer quickly to these questions.
thanks so much.
bye to all.
