Why can't chess.com put knock out tourny's as an option when creating tournaments.  They (chess.com) can create knock outs so why not members. Unless I'm missing something I did not see knock outs as an option in tournament creation.  Yes I know they take longer but so do 7 or 14 days per move tournaments.  I ask this question every year and nothing ever happens.  Cry              Is there something evil about knock outs?     Tongue out

I think they are some . I am thinking of one started by Prawneatsprawn. Also I am taking part in the world series of chess in which two members of each group advance to the next round.

Thanks for the reply. The WSOC is not knock out but round robin and the prawneatprawn tourny is round robin also.  I've seen knock out tourny's but they all seem to be started by chess.com staff.

I think you can just make the group size 2, and that'll do it.

That's fine if I want two. Smile but what about 12 or 22?  What I would like to know is why can't Chess.com include knock outs as an option in creating new tournaments?

Is it just something that chess.com hasn't gotten to yet or is it something they don't want to do for some reason

Any tournament with multiple rounds is a "Round-Robin Knock-Out".  http://www.chess.com/tournaments/help.html#knockout

Gold members are limited to single-round tournaments.  http://www.chess.com/tournaments/help.html#membership
