I know this has come up before. But it troubling for me when I withdraw weeks before a tourney starts to have it count against me. For example, I was signed up for a tourney for a certain rating, then my rating went beyond that. So in good faith, I withdrew.

Now it is in my tourney record that I have withdrawn. If I had withdrawn after a tourney started, that would be something else. This is not the case.

It looks like a blemish on one's record to put those withdrawals out there for all to see as though you were a person who withdrew from a tourney after it started.

Can anything be done about it? Sometimes you sign up for a tourney and then realize a few days later (way before it starts) that you can not participate.

It seems to penalize the player who withdrew early. And it looks bad to see on your record that you have withdrawn  several times. Like a quitter, which is not the case.

Please let us quit counting those very early "withdrawals" and making out record look bad.

All my withdrawals made long  before a Start of Tournaments!

And, yet, it looks like odd  and distorted a Stats on a bad manner, like I Quit a Tournament, that never happened!

It must be clean up, as I wrote before....

stwils,

full agreement here and sympathy. I had a thought though, by way of partial solution... suppose you were to ask the TD to kick you out before the start, would that count as a withdrawal? Not a slick solution, but practical and easy to implement until things change.

I have 4 withdrawals because of this, but this doesn't restrict you from entering in any of the tournaments, only timeouts.

AWARDCHESS is wrong. When I hosted a tournament for non-premium members only, I had no problem kicking the premium members out.
