A Titanic struggle. Karpov chose not to play in the match in which he would have to face his bitter enemy Korchnoi, and so the first-board encounter was between the former challenger and the next one. Kasparov chose a sharp and risky piece sacrifice to stir up threats against the White King, and even Korchnoi's great defensive skills prove insufficient.Kasparov is 19 years old..

yeah, and now he is being trained by kasparov! although carlsen is no kasparov, i see a lot of bedazzle in him, but the magic of kasparov i cant see being replicated by any known player alive right now

re: KORCHNOI v KARPOV, Karpov was an innovator strtegically when opening and balancing superior, yet maintaing the center of the board, and thus able to dictate the pace of the game, we all know controling the center of the board, has it's prioity. What a master.
Quetion what happens when we play a good chess player, but his opening moves are not balanced and zigzag?
I wish to correct myself in one regard, Korchnio v kasporov, in that Karpov was the innovator of control of the center of the board, in that he moved correspondingly, such as u control the black or i conrtrol tthe white squares, It was kochnio v kasporov that initated this as primary and foremost necessary to a well balanced game from opening to middle game.
