Kasparov versus The World was a game of chess played in 1999 over the Internet. Conducting the white pieces, Garry Kasparov faced the rest of the world in consultation, with the World Team moves to be decided by plurality vote. Over 50,000 individuals from more than 75 countries participated in the game. The host and promoter of the match was the MSN Gaming Zone, with sponsorship from the bank First USA.After 62 moves played over four months Kasparov won the game. In his words:
It is the greatest game in the history of chess. The sheer number of ideas, the complexity, and the contribution it has made to chess make it the most important game ever played
Kasparov played his first move 1.e4 and the World Team voted by a 41% plurality to meet him on his home turf with the Sicilian Defence.

Although I agree with your statement that Kasparov was the best in terms of having the highest ever FIDE rating (that still remains to this day), statistics will show that Bobby Fischer was the best with more wins. When all his games were analised it was found that he made fewer mistakes, inaccurcies and blunders during those wins than any other GM.
Tricklev
No, no analyse has ever shown that.
And while it's true that his overall statistics had more wins, he also stopped during his peak, which few other players did, If Tal had stopped in 60 after becomming world champion, his overall win score would have been equally high, and the same can probably be said about Kasparov if he had stopped during the right time. That doesn't mean Bobby wasn't great, but let's not make things up in our idolisation.
