I thought I would post this thread and use it to keep all GrayMatter members up to date on our Team Chess Matches. Better than starting a new thread every time we begin a new match. And speaking of a new match, our 2nd match is getting ready to start up. This match will be against Grupo Paises e Lusofones. This match is only open to members with a rating between 1600-1850. It is a 3 to 4 player match with a time limit of 5 days.

Our first match is currently under way and on a GrayMatter historical note, Graybeard made the first move of all the match games. He made GrayMatter history!! Since he created our group it only seems fitting.

I hope to start yet another match soon. Will post here later next week and see who among you would like to join in a match. Thanks and good luck to all our players. -- tas58

There is a Group looking for a match. Thought I would see if any of our members would be interested. It would be a 2 player match with ratings between 1200 to 1400 with a time limit of 3 days. If you would want to play just let me know here at this thread. I would need 2 of you and we would have to act quickly. Thanks!!

At the moment we have 2 matches with 8 different players. A total of 16 games. Good luck to all involved. Now very important: Chess is to be enjoyed!! Have fun with your games. If we win that is great, if not that's ok too. Do your best and have fun. Remember: "It's about chess, but it's not just about chess".

Thanks!!Smile

We have recorded our first win ever in Team Chess Matches. Brentonious defeated his opponent getting our group our first game victory. And in the other match shillingmm is closing in on a win which would even his score 1-1 against an opponent that is rated 300+ points higher. Well done gentlemen!!

Hello to all. Looking to start a new match soon.  If you would be willing to add a couple games with a 5 day time limit and feel like being a part of a GrayMatter team let me know. Send me a message if interested. Match probably wouldn't start until this weekend at the earliest. Thanks!!Smile

hi tas58 please include me in your next team match.  I am not very high rated but as some of Graymatter members know, I can on occasion reach an unexpected checkmate!

I think I might have messed up my last match info. In fact I must have messed it up. We have a match lined up and I have 2 of our members signed up. I knew going in that these 2 wanted to play in a match. For some unknown reason, probably a brain dead moment (I did turn 50 last year), I set the player limit at 3. So now I'm looking for 1 more member to add a couple games and join craftysusie and justinbarleben in a match.  2 games, 5 day move limit, and your rating has to be under 1200. You will be playing against a member of another group also rated under 1200.  if you are willing and meet the requirements just click on team matches in the group menu and find the match titled Chess to Enjoy # 3. Click view and your there. Thanks!!Smile

An update on our matches. Our first result was a draw against  World Chess Group. A quick match. We received 4 points for that draw, And we are going to win our second match against Grupo Paises e Lusofones as we are currently up 4-0. Our first match was a very tough match as our fellow members had to play against much higher rated opponents. They battled well and I am proud of their effort.  So basically we will soon have completed all three of our matches with a win, loss, and draw.  A "Well Done" to all members!!

Would be willing to start a new match(s) if enough players were interested. Let me know. Time limit will be 5 days. You would be getting 2 games (unless you would want more).  Up to you!!

I am going to accept a challenge from the group Eowyn's  Guard. You all should be getting a message soon asking if you want to join the team match. It is a 3 day time limit, 1-8 players, under 1800 ratings, and you will play 2 total games per opponent but only 1 game at a time.  So you will be adding just 1 game. Hope we can get as many of you to join all the way up to 8.  Thanks!!Smile

Our 4th Team Chess Match has started.  It is against Eowyn's Guard and ended up being a 7 player match. We had 8 sign up and I thank all of you for the interest. They locked in at 7 so one of our players was left out. Am very sorry about that. It's done by the computer once both groups lock in their teams. However we may have another challenge coming our way soon.  So stay ready!!

Good Luck to all our players and remember: "It's about chess, but it's not just about chess."
