An idea for learning/improvement...

Here is a thought that you might want to try...

Brentonious is a friend who almost always beats me - and I'm never sure just why!  So we decided to play a friendly but competative game with each other in which we would each explain to the other person (via the 'message' box on the game board) why we made each move.  So I'm learning how a chess player who is better than me 'thinks' and why he makes certain moves (a number of which I'd probably not think of).  I'm picking his brain.  At the same time, since I need to explain to him why I'm making a given move it forces me to be more intentional about my moves.  That is always a good idea.

You might want to try this with someone.  It seems like a great way to learn and a great way to help each other.  And of course that's the spirit of GrayMatter Chess!

What if we played a game right here at our group's forum. List the moves right here. We could split up sides or all us play either side. And with each move we make we discuss it.

Thought I would throw this out and see what others would want to do.

    Any ideas?

That is essentially what happens with team vote chess.  A group (like GrayMatter Chess Community!) works together as a team in a match with a team from another group.  Each person on a team evaluates the board and 'votes' for a given move - the move with the most wins is the move played.  The the other team does the same thing.  The way chess.com has set this up there is a team chat feature (similar to chats during regular games) so the pros and cons of a given move can be discussed.  If team members hold off their vote for each move until right before the time for that moves runs out then they can influence each other, learn from each other, etc.  It is kind of neat.

We have a Vote Chess game currently underway which anyone from our group can access from the home page of the GrayMatter Chess Community via the Group Menu item 'Vote Chess.'

I'd encourage you to check it out for at least a few moves - I think it is a simple way to accomplish what has been suggested.  The tools that chess.com provide for this are pretty good and so I don't think we need to reinvent the wheel to do it!
