Being Reasonable: Group Policy on Conduct

In an attempt to avoid possible issues, the following points of conduct are intended to maintain a community atmosphere within the group.  We politely ask that you take the time to read through the following in order to make your membership in Team:  Colorado an enjoyable one.

Be Careful:  Remember that the group forums are public.  Anything shared by you is viewed by other group members as well as any Chess.com members who browse our forums.  Always remember to use caution when posting.  Chess.com; the Administration of Team:  Colorado; and other members of Team:  Colorado will not be held responsible for anything posted by you.  Also remember that because these forums are “public,” discussion of vote chess moves or things similar should be discussed in other areas.

Be Respectful:  Just as the state of Colorado has a diversified population, so too should our membership be diversified.  Membership is open to anyone, no matter:  Nationality; age; gender; sexual orientation; political views; religious beliefs; social status; level of income; level of education; disabilities; membership(s) in other groups on Chess.com; membership(s) in other organizations outside of Chess.com; chess rating (here or elsewhere); level of ability (here or elsewhere); or intended level of participation in Team:  Colorado (unless a conflict of interest arises).

We ask that anyone who may have issues with others based on any of the above mentioned personal descriptions to please keep these issues to themselves.  While participating on the Team:  Colorado forums; or in an event involving Team:  Colorado, we remind you that you are not only representing yourself but the group.  Public displays of bigotry, discrimination, or prejudice will not be tolerated in the group forums or during group events.  Other forums and events are not our concern.  It is up to the administrators and moderators of those forums and events to decide what is acceptable and what is not.  Members who are not respectful will be dealt with on a case by case basis, and may be removed from the group.

Be Aware:  We encourage our members to be active in as many groups as they wish, including other Colorado themed groups.  But please keep in mind, there may be times when a conflict of interest arises between two groups.  An example would be when someone is a member of two groups that are playing a Team Match or a Vote Chess Match against each other.  Obviously, the member cannot play for both teams!  Also, some groups do restrict members from joining others because of World League, World Cup, or other leagues.

If a conflict of interest does come about for a group member, we ask that the member themselves take any necessary steps to resolve the conflict.  We want our members to have fun, and are very understanding of issues that may exist because of these things.  It is understandable if a member has to sit out of a match, or even perhaps leave the group temporarily, to resolve the issue.  We will work with you as best as we can!

Be Fair:  It should go without saying that anyone on Chess.com should want to enjoy fair competition.  With that being said, there are still those who seek to cheat and/or be unsportsmanlike.  We ask that you refrain from these things while participating in Team:  Colorado events.

Be Prepared:  In order to reflect an accurate profile for Team:  Colorado for our members, as well as other groups and potential members, we will remove a member if they have not logged on for a year or more.  Since this is a public group that anyone can join, it shouldn’t be a problem for a member to join again once they return to Chess.com.

Be Happy:  Last, but not least, please keep in mind that as members of Team:  Colorado we are here to have fun!  We will welcome any level of participation our members are comfortable with.  We will attempt to offer games of chess (in all of their group forms) for those members who wish to participate.  We hope to offer informative resources; as well as active forums and news articles for those members who wish to take part in those activities.  Are there other group activities that you are interested in?  Please feel free to let us know and we will do our best to find a way to add them to our team activities.  It is also fine if you do not want to participate in some, or even any, of these group activities.  There are no obligations or expectations for our members when it comes to participation levels.
