Anybody know any of the technical stuff on the blight that's affecting the bent grass greens of so many courses? I know the basics. Well, more than just the basics. Anyone a greens keeper on this site?

Pythium is the most common "blight" to affect Bent greens.
The real problem has been the heat wave. Having to water in excess to keep the bent alive; may have lead to increased Pythium activity. Couple that with not staying on top of your preventative spray program (for disease), not raising the height of cut on your greens and other maintenance practices that could help relieve some of the stress on the plant (bent) will end up costing a "Super" his job.
Also, it should be said, Pythium can kill grass plants in as little as 1 day.
My advice if you have bent greens; get on a good preventative spray program year round. You will sleep much better at night.
