I thought that I would start a forum about all of the updates so that those who do not go to Brandon Sanderson's website very often or dont think of it and so on can get some updates here. I also figured that leaving notes on the main page might be too distracting and you can click the box that says "notify me" when this forum gets updated or you dont have to click that button and everytime I or someone else updates this you will not be notified.... Let me know if you guys like this idea or not.

This weeks update: Brandon posted on his web page today that he has now written 248k words. This is somewhat significant in that it makes it longer than The Path of Daggers 226,687 words, but it also makes it longer than Winter's Heart 238,789. The next book he will pass is The Dragon Reborn 251,392. Also in the update is that he has rewritten all 248k words and has mailed them off to Harriet (Robert Jordan's wife and editor) to be looked over and basically, edited. His last part of the update is that he is still on track to get to 400,000 words by Dec 31,08 but he is predicting that the book will be slightly longer than that so it will not be finished till late January 09 which would still put it on track to be published Fall 09. Maybe Bradh can verify that it takes that long to publish or something. Also of note is that Harriet will have to edit the entire book as well. Lets hope she is a fast editor. Hope everyone subscribes to the forum. Laterz, David/ the only wildcard on chess.comSealed

Thanks WC. I'll be tracking this topic, and looking forward to updates. I had no idea his wife was editing, is she an editor, or is this done out of respect? Either way I like it. Get on the ball with the vote game, ok. Only 2 analyses, stop being so lazy!! hehe..

You know, I shouldn't have to take this abuse, go to work and the women are 'blah blah blah,Yell' (what I get for working in a company that is 4 women and me) come home, work even harder and all I get is 'stop being so lazy.'  WinkLOL JUST JOKING. Thanks for the feed back. On the Harriet wife thing, she was always RJ's editor from book 1 and before during Conan. Anybody read Conan? Any good?

I read them back in the day. It was the reason i gave Eye of the world a read. His style was developing then, raw, as good as de camp or howard. Yes I recommend them.

Small update I thought I would pass along. As I had said earlier, Harriet, RJ's wife, is doing a large chunk of the editing (along with RJ's cousins) and she sent some of the pages to the 50% of the book that has already been written back to Brandon Sanderson with the corrections. The comments are reportedly positive on his writing with the exception that she has asked him to add more detail to settings and a few of the events.

On a side note: He is writing one character at a time rather than the book from beginning to end. An example would be, he writes everything about Perrin from the first chapter all the way through to the end including what happens to Perrin in the end and then he goes back to the begining and writes Mat.

On a side note far off in space: I just bought Elantris by Brandon Sanderson yesterday. I have read the first chapter and it is alright so far. It doesn't grab you like Eye of the world did with instant action but it is still interesting and seems pretty orginal which is rare. Fingers crossed. I will post again what my feelings are about the book when I get farther through it. 615 pages.

On yet one more side note: I went to Books a Million the other day and they had Winter's Heart in hardback for $4.95. Maybe they will have the same at another Books a Million near you.

I am having a hard enough time logging on right now as it is. I was just complaining to Darrin the other day actually about how tough it has been to play with my 2 jobs weighing me down a lot here recently. I am surprised I bought a book period. I do still remember you telling me about him earlier though and I still plan to get his book, but first I need to do some research on this Brandon Sanderson so I know whether I will be disappointed or not.

Oh by the way, he is 64% completly or 256,000 words

So he seems to be on schedule, nice. I'm sure he was picked for a good reason, his other book may not really tell you much. I'll wait & hope. It's been sooooooooo long!

Trust me on G.O.T., though.

Heads up, he just wrote another 4,000 these past few days but that is the only update for this past month and and will probably be about the only update for another week or so. No worries, it was planned this way and we are still on track to get the book finished by december

I totally posted this in the wrong forum just a little bit ago.

Good news, the updates should once again begin coming more frequent in the coming weeks as Brandon Sanderson is able to spend more time writing the books. He has just passed 280,000 words written and has gotten positive feed back from Harriot about the first half of the book that he has written so far. As always, book 12 still is on track to be published in fall 2009.

Brandon Sanderson updated his blog just a few days ago. He is now at 300,000 words and should still hit 400,000 by Dec 31st. The big new though is this, he has finally stated how long he truly expects the book to be and that is 600,000 to 700,000 words so in other words, he is basically half way or less than halfway done with the book and now predicts the book to be compeleted by April or May of next year. It would still be realistic to expect the book to be published and on store shelves by late fall of next year though. Robert Jordan had already completed most of the last quarter of the book anyway so he just needs to write to that point and fill in just a few details. There is a rumor going around that now they it is know that the book will be at least over 550,000 words then it will be split into two books. Brandon only confirmed this rumor... he neither denied or confirmed it to be false. Instead he said that he would leave it up to Harriet. Should be quite a few more updates coming in the next few months so I will keep this blog active.

I restarted Knife last night. I'm forgetful of who some characters are. I may have to start all of them over. How long do you think it would take to start at Wheel? I'd probably be done in time for the grande finale

Depends on how fast a reader you are. I ususally read a book in 2 to 3 weeks. I have a feeling that is pretty fast compared to most readers that are not as into the series as I am.  If everything stays on track then I plan to start the series completely over in June 2009, take a break or two through the series and then be finished just in time to start the new book.

Ok. I refinished knife. I see now that I HAVE to reread the whole series. This may interfere with my chess. OY!

i started once from either book 6 or book 7 and read all the way through one time. I do not think that it took anything from the last books although the first two that I started on were kind of hard to follow at first. If you are just trying to read and get caught up for the last book then try starting half way through the series...

Oh, if only it were that simple. What do I miss? I need to reread the Trollics attacking the 2 rivers. I need to refall in hate with Padin Fain. I cant remember Rand meeting Min. Aram picking up the sword. When Matt hangs. I must revisit the eelfin & aalfin. The taint being removed. Rand getting his Heron marks. I should have waited til June like you are. Too friggin late now! Hehe! Tonight, I start EotW!

May you always find shade and water wildcard.
