As there are only 9 entrants this will be a 4 game tournament.

Here is the draw for round 1.

Black must challenge white. 3 days/move. Call the game 'chesstempo members championship round 1'

Pairings (white first)

mellancholia v marvellosity

uriblass v kacparov

philidor_position v asdf1qaz

emschorsch v claudlejuen

akapovsky  bye

When the game has started, white post a link to it in this thread. When it is finished, post the result here.

So there will be 4 rounds, 1 round at a time? Oops. I will only manage to play round 1 then!

Did you not think of seeding the pairings? I could be mistaken but it appears you have the top 4 seeds playing each other.

OK kacparov, you can pull out and akapovsky can have a game.

On seeding: I'm using accelerated pairings logic. What this does roughly speaking is have the top half and bottom half by seeding playing themselves in the first round. And in the second round winners from the bottom half play losers from the top half. After that it is normal swiss. It is a common technique particularly in short tournaments.

A straight 1v5, 2v6 etc round would be so likely a foregone conclusion with the spread of ratings that we have, that I think this is much better.

Actually I'd like to play. I don't know when will my next tourney be.

What if there's a draw? Do both people advance?
If there will be 5 people in round 2 and a tourney coming, I may with draw then to make 4 people - would it be ok?

OK kacparov, you are back in.

Normally everybody stays in the tournament until the end, but I will allow withdrawals between rounds.

claudelejuen only accepts challenges from players rated below 1500 so I can't challenge him.

No Extrabold, I was on vacation so the game couldn't start. Now I'm back, and sent asdf a challenge. I'll post the link when the game starts.

And I think it would be nice if all of us post our chess tempo handles and ratings there. Of course we know about Kacparov and marvellosity, but still Smile

Mine:

Philiposi

Standart: around 2300

Blitz: around 1800 (%85)

congratulation emschorsch

mine game with marvelosity will probably take little bit more time, please apologize the delay

chesstempo:

melancholia -- 2275 blitz 2313 standard ... currently I take a little break and wait for promised new problems ... too much repetitions

I wonder - can chesstempo premium members see FIDE estimate of other users?...I would like to know mine Wink

I checked out your stats (I'm a gold member) and it's not displayed. I think only plantinium members can see full stats of other users.
