If you would join, post here so we can know if there is any interest in the idea.  Also, give a suggestion for a time control.  I was thinking 3days/move.

I'll play. 3 days / move or slower is ok for me.

I would join. But the announcement for the tournament should be one or two weeks before it starts so I can finish up some games.

 I would suggest 3 days a move.

I'm interested as long as the game load isn't too high, since I'm overloaded and getting pretty burned out -- I've been on vacation for the last week and am just dreading starting the clock again...  Frown  Yeah...  It's my fault...  I know better now!  Surprised

My preferences:  No faster than 3 days/move (slower is better), 1 game per opponent at a time, and small groups (like 5-7) in each round.  For example:

If there were 20 entrants, I'd propose groups of 7 with 2 to advance.  This will produce managable groups of 6-7 in round 1 and a group of 6 (or 7 if an extra person advances due to a 2nd place tie) in the second round. The total game load would not more than 6 at one time which is managable.  Or...

I'd be equally happy with, say, groups of 5 with 1 to advance (for 20 people). The game load would be less, but I think the 7 with 2 to advance would be a more interesting format for the tournament.

L8erz...

Yes, using vacation time during tournaments is acceptable.

I'm in.  I'd prefer a slower time control than 3 days per move, especially if we're up near the 6 or 7 games at a time thing that Wildman was mentioning.  Simply because there are some days when I can't focus enough to put in good moves and also because I'm playing CC now to make sure that I take my time, so rushing just seems to contradict that.

Anyone mind if we go with 7 days per move?  The tourney might take longer, but the overall quality of games is likely to be better.  (Of course people rarely take all their time anyway so it likely wouldn't be a longer tournament anyway *shrug*)

Ok I've created a tournament and it's invite only to prevent others than CV.TV members from participating. It's 7 days per move and groups of 7 with 2 players advancing.. I guess it's best if people announce their participation here officially and then I add them to the tournament. Should we decide on a starting date or just wait until we get a certain number of players?

Invite me! Please! ;)

A starting date would be nice unless, of course, we don't have enough people at the starting date.  It would give people an incentive to hurry up and join.
