    Now that cool weather has returned and the days are getting shorter be sure to check out what's going on at the Columbia Chess Club each Thursday evening!
    Here's a summary what's coming up:

    Oct 21 - Ashland Quick XXI Game 20 Quads 
    Oct 28 - Bughouse Tournament & Casual Play (Open to everyone, no membership required!)

    Nov 4 - Ashland XVIII Game 90 Weekly Tournament, one round a week for 5 weeks.
    Nov 5-7 - 71st SC Championships - Columbia (New Location!)
    Dec 16 - Ashland Quick XXII Game 20 Quads 
    Dec 23 - Year End Awards and Casual Play
    Dec 30 - Ashland Action 4 round Game 30 Swiss 

    We plan to start broadcasting the Top Board again with Ashland XVIII, Nov 4. Link is on the website.

    Bughouse Tournament! Casual Night Oct 28.

    No membership required!! Anyone can play in this tournament for Free!

    Registration will end at 7:50. Round 1 will start at 8:00. Round Robin if six teams or less, five round swiss if seven teams or more. Casual play will also be available.

    Ashland XVIII! Nov 4 - Dec 9

    Five round Swiss. Two Sections. One round a week for five weeks. Entry fee $3 a round for club members, $5 a round for non-members. One bye allowed, No last round byes. USCF membership required.
     
    Registration ends at 7:15, Rounds start at 7:30. Game 90

    Open Section First Place $35, Second Place $20, U1805 $15 U1605 $15. Club members with a floor of 1800 receive free entry, $10 will be deducted from any prize won.

    Amateur Section (U1505), Game 90, First Place $35, Second Place $20, U1205 $15 U1000 $15.

    Perfect score (5-0, byes do not count) wins free entry into a Cola Club tournament.

    71st SC Champs (New Location!)

    The SC Champs will be held at the Hilton-Garden Inn-Harbison on Nov 5-7. This is the same site as The Columbia Open.

    Early entry fee is $60 by Nov 3, $70 on site. There is a $20 "Trophy Only" entry available this year. Full details can be found on the SCCA site.

    One Open Section 4 round SS G30. Prize fund $480 b/28

    Entry fee $20 club members, $30 non members. USCF Membership required.

    Prizes: 1st $150 2nd $100 3rd $50 U1605 $95 U1205 $85

    Rounds 7:00 8:15 9:30 & 10:45 Registration for first round ends at 6:50. Register by 8:05 and receive a .5 point bye for first round.

    Two half point byes available. Must commit before 8:05.

    This should jinx it! We plan to broadcast at least one board tonight starting at 7:30. If things go well we'll broadcast boards one & two.

    If you missed it Live last night, check out the game between Keith Eubanks and Paul Farb.  Keith launched a vicious kingside attack that Paul couldn't find a defense for.
