True enough, rab.  I guess they are trying to distinguish between rituals and fesitvals.  If you were going to list large drinking parties you would have to include Carnival, Hogmanay, Madi Gras, Bonnaroo, and scores others.  In my city we have a two week celebration for a two minute race, aka The Kentucky Derby.
