It has been recently asked what would happen in the below position, according to the game explorer e6 is the move common move, and seems strong.

yes also weakening whites center losing their d pawn for a wing pawn.... ill have to do analysis to figure out why e6 and not e5..  and why masters play e6.

e5 leaves black with a backward d-pawn and a hole at d6
