BasicDefence
My good friends of the Free Chess Help community;
During the past week, I've been pursuing a serious study of some beginner endgame patterns. They are fairly basic, but that's where a beginner like myself is supposed to start, is it not? Anyways, to reinforce my studies, I'm more than willing to create a 4-5 part series of beginner's endgames, which will not only reinforce my own knowledge, but hopefully add to the knowledge of the other beginners in our community that are looking to learn as much as possible (like myself).
The series would have 4-5 parts, as mentioned above, with a new part posted daily. The parts would be something like;
- The Opposition; How to make your King more powerful than your opponent's in the endgame
- King and Pawn endgames; how to win them, or force a draw if your opponent has the extra pawn
- King, Rook, and Pawn endgames; Lucena's position, how to create the Lucena position, and how to win with it
- King, Rook, and Pawn endgames continued; Philidor's position, how to recognize the enemy's passive pawns, how to create the Philidor's position, and how to win with it
- King and Rook vs. King endgames; how to force a mate (if you have the rook)
a. King and double Rook endgames; the easiest endgame mate
If the lessons are getting enough views, I could continue the series with lessons such as King and Bishop/Double Bishop endgames, pawn endgames, etc.
Each lesson would include multiple diagrams (the diagrams would include simplified versions of annotation of the endgame patterns from master and IM level players), copious amounts of text instruction, and a puzzle at the end to reinforce what you've learned.
I'll only be putting in all of the work for the lessons if there's enough interest from the beginner level players (like ME! :P). So, post here if you'd like me to make them!
Thanks,
Caleb
turn
I am bad at endgames, and I would crash my head on the board if I play till an endgame with Petrosain (the endgame expert!) (not that I'd get the chance) (the board should be quite empty by then <hello, it's an endgame!>, so I wouldn't hurt my head too much) ().
So I hope you can brush up my endgame power. Thanks a lot!
Turn;
while I doubt the lessons would make an impact on your vs. Petrosian matches (which I wish you the best of luck with), I hope they can reinforce some of the basic principles of your endgame knowledge.
Please note that the first several lessons would be concerning the most basic endgame instruction; perhaps followed by later series' covering more advanced and mid-level patterns.
One person interested so far, that's a good start!
Thanks, Turn!

'Thxs' as in, you're interested?!
Helipacter
BD - that would be great. I would be interested as I've turned many a win into a draw in my time!!
Alright, excellent!
Even though there's not much interest yet, I feel that these lessons should be created regardless. Hopefully there will be more as we go along.
I'll get started on the first one soon, but I'm extremely busy with my studies. I'll try to get it up either today or tomorrow. Sound fair?
Helipacter; thanks for your interest!
Really sorry guys, I'll try to get this up as soon as possible.
I'm absolutely SWAMPED with my chess studies, plus I'm being forced to lift weights and run every day with the school football team if I want to play next year, and I have summer school coming up. I'll try to get this going by the weekend; promise! Sorry for the wait!

it will help a lot of people so please make it!
BTW: Phillidor's position leads to a draw not win if defended correctly
oenologer
yes, please do...I can use help in my endgame
Sorry all for the long wait! I will begin work on the first two lessons and they should be up before the night is over!
