Something I have lots of experience with is staying overly aware of time pressure. This is a distracting habit. Anyone have advice about how to break this habit? One thing I've been trying is systematic exposure to tightly timed tactical problems in the tactics trainer here at Chess.com. Hopefully I'll just get used to it and forget that rushed feeling...

i wish i have that... when i delve deep into a problem... time does not exist. so most times i have a clear win but loss on time. lol.

not sure how i could get over this flaw.

I have been playing a couple of tourneys at a time, and even though they are three day/move, I have felt time pressure.  I have cut down on the number of games playing at once and it has seemed to ease the perceived pressure.  Perhaps just the experience has helped as well!

I've been playing OTB chess for 52 years, off and on (most off), and it took me all that time to realize that I like correspondence-style chess best--specially NOW that "correspondence" chess includes email chess and turn-based chess, like here at Chess.com. (Back then, correspondence chess meant post cards and ships at sea--it took years to play a game between continents.) It's the almost-unlimited time to delve with an analysis set that I enjoy so much about turn-based chess here at Chess.com. I've almost forsaken OTB and online live chess entirely now. Like tyberius, above, I just limit the number of turn-based games I play at one time.

I agree with you both. once I started to limit the # of my games, I enjoy them more. I still get bored waiting for opponents moves, thats why I'm writing this. I'll play live also, but 3day moves are my favorite. I'm new to this group. Looking forward to meeting new friends. Z

It's been three months since my post, above, and I entered a Chess.com tournament wherein you have to play eight games at once. That was a bit much for my work schedule, but it drops down as games are completed. During the tournament, I learned a lot about how to approach turn-based play, and it's made a lot of difference in my scoring and in the enjoyment, both. Probably still more to learn.
