I don't know if I would consider Nirvana punk, but I love their music all the same. Kurt Cobain is missed.
yeah,I just named my top bands, regardless of genre.
Adolescents - The (self titled) Blue album is one of the greatest punk albums ever made.
I was turned onto Against Me! a few years ago...Reinventing Axl Rose is amazing, start to finish!
Propagandhi - changed my life forever in 1996 with Less Talk, More Rock, and they are still releasing crucial records.
Trial - Are These Our Lives? is by far the best straight-up (and straight edge) hardcore LP ever released.
Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come changed punk/HC forever.
And at the more metal end of things, Peregrine are a great band playing out of Pennsylvania with some awesome ideas and lyrics.
So hey, chess references and promotion abound in hip-hop (Wu Tang Clan and numerous associated projects, the Hip-Hop Chess Federation, etc), does anyone know of any punk/HC/metal bands to ever talk about chess?
