Post your favorite piece and why

please don't say queen because everybody love their queen

Mine is the knight because it can jump over pieces and is good for forking.

but it sucks at pinning. In fact it can't pin at all.

I also like the knight even though you can't pin pieces with it the knight's check or attack on a piece cannot be blocked. It takes a lot of practice to use your knights in harmony with your other pieces but once you get good with them they are a formidable weapon in your King's arsenal!! (I am still in the practice mode ;-))

I found out that you should sacrifice your knight for a bishop because 2 knights don't work together

I guess it depends upon the position, but having a Bishop certainly is a good thing, unless it is a bad bishop!!

Check out my game (on-going w/one move to mate) with smm-cute. My knights were essential in the attack and pinning down the mate. but there is also a bishop that made it possible.

My favorite piece is also the knight.  I could jump over pieces and is really good in forking.

PAWNS RULE!  they establish battle lines, control territory, threaten more valuable pieces, get saced for initive, and can become anything they want when they move 7 squares...im with philidor "pawns are the soul of chess"  and Fine, "id rather have a pawn than a  finger"  everything on the board depends on where the pawns are

that's very true and there are also many of them so there is a larger chance of promoting. actually sometimes it only takes 6 moves to promote.

It depends on the game. If the center is closed I like my knights and hang on to them as long as possible. If the center is open I like my bishops and once again, hang on to them as long as possible. Over all I would say the knight is my favorite piece.
