Supporting a squad can be (and should be, in my opinion) a lifetime commitment. You can't say you cheer for a squad when they're on top and then turn your back on them when they lose a big game. That's not support, that's bandwagoning, but I suppose I can understand that kind of behaviour for folks who cheer for teams that they have no real life connection with. My father cheered for Roma when he was a boy growing up just outside of Rome's city limits in wartime, and he still cheers for them today. That's where my people are from and I'll be cheering for Roma after many wins, many losses, many trophies and many dry spells, long after Totti is retired (I imagine he'll be coaching the team after that happens), long after De Rossi has hung up his boots... so long as the eternal city of Rome stands, I'll still be wearing the giallorosso (and the same goes for my Reds in Toronto).

It's not about the flavour of the month, the year, or even the decade... it's about your team that you live and die with year after year.

That is/should be the motto of any person who supports a team of any kind be it school or professional. Thank you for the words mate
