    Hello everybody,

I'm obviously new here. I'm looking for a higher ranked person in this group to scrim against and improve my game. I've been improving quickly but still have plenty of room to go. Thanks to all who reply. I'll scrim anyone keep in mind, but I feel the games that will teach the most involve getting my butt handed to me by the person telling me why my moves were less than ideal. Thanks everyone!

    Hi,

I love to work with you on some stuff if you want. I am not really the highest rated player in the world, but I understand a lot of the key concepts in chess and some of the main openings and endgame types.  If you have some games you would like me to look at. I will take a look at them and give you my thoughts.

    Hey Ryan,

I see that you live in Ames, I actually go to Iowa State University right now. Theres a chess club that meets every Thursday night in the Molecular Biology Building, but I never go, since I have classes during that time. I say check it out and if you need more info, I have the club preseident's info on facebook! Cool

Games like this are my bane. I still make too many blunders and I'm not always able to recover from them. This game I was lucky, blundered my queen and won on a weak back rank. Had another game where I won bishop knight knight to rook pair after a nasty rook blunder on my part.

1.e4 d6 Pirc defense it a good opening for beginning players because it tends to defer most of the battle til the middlegame. 2.d4 g6 Nf6 is normally the second in pirc defense 3.d5 Nf6 Opponent is going out of book trying to gain space in the center but he is now overextended and could be exploited. 4.Nc3 Bg7 Heading towards a safe Pirc setup 5.Bb5+ c6 C6 is an interesting move, I would prefer Bd7 to put the immediate question to the bishop. Cf does gain tempo but could create possible weaknesses on the queenside. 6.dxc6 bxc6 Opponent helped you out with this pawn trade I think it equalized the position . 7.Ba4 O-O Good time for a castle 8.Bg5 Nh5 No need to move the knight here.Knight on the rim is dim and it is here. I prefer Bb7 here eyeing the center 9.g4 Qa5 One idea would be to play Bxc3+ messing up his queenside pawn structure. 10.Nge2 Nf6 Back to originial square with two tempi lost. Qxg5 wins a bishop and pawn for a knight  11.f3 Ba6 Missed Qxg5 again 12.Bd2 Nxg4 Knight sacifice that does not have compensation. Bxe2 seems to go into a combo that wins the a4 bishop unless I missing something. Qb6 is another idea threatening mate on f2 1and the pawn on b2 13.Bxc6 Nxc6 Blunder by your opponent 14.Nd5 Nge5 Whoops! Qc5 is looking much better 15.Bxa5 Bxe2 As a general rule do not trade down when you are down material but you did end gaining a piece back by this exchange 16.Qxe2 Nxa5 17.Nxe7+ Kh8 18.O-O-O Rab8 Good place for the rook 19.b3 Nb7 20.Qa6 Nc5 Good move loses a pawn but gains time  21.Qxa7 Nxf3 Rba8 is looking strong because of backrank mate threats 22.Nc6 Rbc8 Still liking Rba8 here 23.Rxd6 Bh6+ 24.Kb2 Nxe4 25.Qd4+ Bg7 Nxd4 gets the queen back right away 26.Ne5 Nxe5 Nxd4 wins a lot of material here 27.Qxe4 Nc4+ Nice double check 28.Kb1 Nxd6 Now you are up material slightly 29.Qd5 Rfd8 30.Qg2 Rc7  31.h4 Rcd7 Doubling rooks is rarely a bad idea 32.h5 Nf5 33.hxg6 Rd1+ You spank your opponent back into reality that his plan is too slow with mate to come next move 34.Rxd1 Rxd1# 0-1 I hope this helps I didn't have as much time to analyze it as I wanted as it was a quick skim of the game.

Sorry about the spacing on that post I was using a cell phone so it won't come out right. Here is a quick conclusion on your play. In the opening you need try to focus on getting all your pieces developed don't move a piece twice in the opening unless you are gaining a direct benefit from it like winning a piece or saving a piece. Pay attention to any undefended piece you or opponent has and it will reduce the blunders. If possible do not leave your queen lined with an opponents rook or bishop as it give him tactical opportunities. If your opponent puts his queen in the open you can attack his queen to gain time for your plans. Congrats on not giving up after losing your queen and finding a way back into the match.

My look at the game but it may not be the best.  Developing material needs to be fixed from both sides of the game.

Hey Poketo, I have a Q.  How do you make those cool diagrams.  I tried just copy and paste from analyzer board and no-go.

There is a chess board above the left side of text box.  It has a 4x4 checkerboard pattern.
