Attached with this message is the first tournament game that I had played withthe Gibbins-Weidenhagen Gambit 1.d4 Nf3 2.g4. The is the opening that tookme to the Hawaii State Championship title in 1986. This was a match game vsReynolds Takata in 1982. We split the match 1-1 however I won this encounterwith my new gambit.
Best RegardsDarthMusashi
In 1986 Reynolds 'Takata's chess student had created a mini opening booklet to take down my Gibbins-Weidenhagen Gambit, however when we played in a quad event hewas busted over the board. See game attached.

Hey!
Is there a post that discusses the lines where black takes the pawn with 2... Nxg4 ?
There are posts on the GWG at the Yahoo Unorthodox Openings Chess Newsgroups, but you will have to join this newsgroup. This group also has files of games on the GWG. Also you will have to check the past messages at this group.

I have experimented with this line from time to time since 1983. White has a few trappy lines. Here is a miniature from this variation.

What is the mean idea behind this opening?

There were actually 2 chess books on the Gibbins Weidenhagen Gambit 1.d4 Nf62.g4 which were in German. However both books are now out of print. There werearticles on this opening in 2 German publications Rand Springer & Gambit Revue. Not sure if both publications are still in print.
The main idea behind this opening is quick development and control of the center.I have also tried the English Weidenhagen Gambit 1.c4 Nf6 2.g4 where I wrote anarticle on this gambit in my column at Chessville called "The Search for Dragons& Mythical Chess Openings".
I had actually moved on to discover other similar gambits such as the OmegaGambit 1.d4 Nf6 2.e4 and Omega Achilles Gambit 1.c4 Nf6 2.e4. Both openingsare articles with my column at Chessville.
