Hi, I am just dropping by to say hello to everybody. I am relatively new to chess. I learned the basics when I was a kid but never found someone to play with. I rediscovered chess by playing Chessmaster XI and going through the Josh Waitzkin academy (3 weeks ago :)) I discovered this website through Google and I fell in love (again) with this game. It is fun to play against like-leveled people and learning something new everyday. I love the interaction brought by chess.com and I gives me several ways to learn. I hope I can bring something to this group. Anyway, see ya on the battlefield :)

Hello. I too learned the moves when I was a kid but never really understood the game. I learned it on Chessmaster (PS2) in college. IRL everyone I play is either too good or horrible. Here is the only place I find players of my level. I joined hoping to play in some beginner tournaments.

That is what I like about chess.com. You can always find a player against which you will have a fair challenge. I often check the numbers of currently logged players and there are always about 2000-4000 people online so you have a very good chance of finding someone of similar strength to you. In the meantime, there is always the tactics trainer and the chess mentor for premium members.
