So, I'm playing in the Experienced vs New members vote game (on the exp. side) and I check the results today to find we voted in a blunder. The last I checked, a good move had the lead in percentage when suddenly, in the last few hours, the blunder got a rush of votes and won even though there were many posts telling how it was a losing move. Some of the guys did a little research and found that this particular move had about 100 more votes than the previous ones. They looked at some of the team members and found a bunch of 1200 rated players that had, this day, signed up with chess.com and joined the "experienced" team. We asked chess.com admin. to check into this and it was confirmed that 3 guys had created a bunch of fake accounts and sabotaged this particular game.
It makes me think of the game that got chess team international started (against the dream team) and how we posted, posted, and posted how a certain move was ruinous but to no avail. How many vote games are legit and how many are tainted?
I've noticed that there's a lot more open discussion of cheating than ever before. I quit the Minnesota team I was on because someone used an engine and brought up the move results +/-in a vote game. Besides cheating, this guy was an idiot for posting his analysis because after the game is over the other team gets to read all the posts!
I don't remember if it was the exp. vs new members game or the knights vs bishop game but an actual IM said to check your engines for blunders, within the last month. There are many more examples I could give but you get the point.
It's great that chess.com acted so quickly to find the boneheads that messed up the vote game but it just makes me a little sad that this kind of thing has to happen at all. OK enough of my rant, I feel better just getting it off my chest, thanks to anyone who reads this.

The scourge of online chess. This is why I VASTLY prefer OTB chess to any form of online chess. You just can't be sure you aren't playing an idiot with an engine.

hmm so sad, you are not alone diomed1. I've seen this in big (very large team)vote chess games, like the one happen against Natalia Pogonina.

Sad indeed...but there is a bright side to everything, like the formation of this group :-)
How sad
