Hey everybody, now that we have a few members I figured we could introduce ourselves.  I'll start:

My name's Jeff, I'm 28, live in Greenville and have been playing for about a year, but have studied pretty hard the last few months to get better.  My wife bought me a USCF membership for Christmas, so I'm planning on playing some rated OTB games at the Greenville Chess club ASAP.  Aside from that, I'm a veteran of the Navy and am finishing a Computer Engineering degree at Clemson.

I'm going to try to keep us at 1 vote chess game and 1 team match at a time, so please participate if you find the time, and I'm looking forward to meeting you all.

Jeff, This was a good idea putting this group together. I'll see if I can more of the guys around here to join.

I'm Bob and I'm in Lexington.

I'm the Director of the Columbia Chess Club. We play every Thursday evening so if anyone is over this way be sure to stop by. Check us out online at www.columbiachess.com .

I play in quite a few of the tournaments in SC and Charlotte. If anyone has questions about getting into OTB play at our state tournaments feel free to shoot me a message.

Also, be sure to stay up to date on SC Chess at www.scchess.org .

Pleasure to meet you Bob, and thanks for the links, I hadn't seen the scchess.org site.  I just went over the Chumachenko-Pohl game of the week, and hopefully I'll have on opportunity to play Klaus Pohl next month at a tourney in Greenville.

Hello from Greenwood, SC !

Greenwood has a small family friendly community OTB chess club welcoming all ages and all skill levels (beginners too!).  Proud to serve the counties of Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, McCormick, and Saluda.

Details - http://greatergreenwoodchessplayers.pbworks.com

Greenwood club players are now being encouraged to play at chess.com to stay connected with players from the club (and all of SC).  Especially players who have other priorities which can keep them away from weekly club meetings.  Hopefully player relationships will grow, ‘re-entry’ into the club meetings will be less awkward, and OTB tournaments will be better attended.  BIG thanks to those who created & maintain group South Carolina, USA !!
