Since this is the public group, and the other group (HQ) is a private group, I assume that all the information on the new tournament will be posted over here as well so that everyone else can see? Also, how is it that the private group has more members than the public one?
Well, you don't need to be a member of this group to view all the content. That said, the "raison d'être" for having 2 separate groups is becoming less clear all the time... perhaps we should merge them into 1 public group?
I have been wondering about the reason myself. Seems like one group should do it.
I actually didn't know about this group until I tried to look for the Open Swiss pairing. I was looking forever but never found it. Finally, I found a post that just happened to link to the pairing page and it was then that I realized there were two groups. @_@
HQ no doubt is a place for the admins to discuss what they need to discuss in private... pretty standard for most groups, and essential I believe.
If there's going to be 2 groups, the HQ should be restricted to just the admins of the groups competing, and this one should be for anyone who's interested in how things are going. I had a member of The 2K Club ask me about the pairings, type of tournament, etc. and that's when I realized that at the moment, all that info is ONLY posted in the HQ, so he couldn't even see it. That's why I asked if it would all be posted here as well.
As usual, I will be posting the pairings and schedule for Masters II here, as soon as I have links for all the games.
I believe that the HQ was originally intended to be the vote chess counterpart to the WE ARE ADMIN group until I went overboard, and started recruiting too many members, and linksspringer told me he wouldn't have it anymore. Now it's more just a mysterious place where we hoard all the information that the players in our events really want to know, trying to raise the suspense to a fever pitch, until we finally break down, and spring it on them here in a flurry of fanfare and pageantry the like of which few have ever seen.
