Please comment on my composition, I am going to enter it into a competition and I want to get lots of opinions so I know what to fix and what needs to improve.
It is in the style of Bach and I used the picture from this group's dp
Well the slow intro sounded more Beethoven than Bach to my ears. Well written tho for an original it feels very derivative tho that may well be deliberate. You'd get a more Bach-like effect if played on the organ. You have good keyboard technique for someone in their midteens (U16?).
Hmm yeah your right, do you think it sounds Beethovenish because of the harmonies at the end of the slow movement, or because of the rhythm?
I have to agree with the former speaker ... the prelude (and well the toccata parts within the fugue) have some harmonies that seem to fall somewhat out of the general style of the piece. Anyhow no a very big problem for me ... makes it interesting in a certain way! The fugue is great! I think the piece as a whole makes a very good impression. Bravo!
Very nice work are you sure you are under 16? I have added your video to my Favorites on YouTube 5 stars
Thanks rab63! I am now 17 but earlier this year when I entered the competition I was 16.
I like it that it sounds a bit beethovenish, I loved it.You got some very crazy skills! It was nice and not much people have that talent, congratulations! Can you compose in the style of mozart, I would love to hear one like that
Thanks, my music theory teacher says that I should work my way chronologically to master the different styles of the major composers, and then only create my own original style. So Mozart is definitely next on the list!
This is truly amazing, you are 17 right? you are composing exactly like bathoveen, you could be a composer some day, i swear, just amazing!!!!
You know what? I have decided to write a piece on the violin and the piano, I going to make a really good piece. You have encouraged me, btw, you are definatly going to win this contest!
