Whats the best opening for most people

e4?

e4 or d4. But in most of my games playing white I open with e4, just because I'm used to it and I know what probably will follow... Allthough I find d4-openening very interesting... But I'll try them all!

well e4 contains more tactics and requires alot of study,but d4 is somewhat following some tactics ,so with d4 i got a higher rating than with e4,also f4 isnt bad,the bird opening ,but it needs studying

for me d4 are for positional players , while for e4 are for tacticians :)

If I am playing someone who I know is solid, I will go with e4. For people who I don't know, I may try to throw them out of their comfort zone with a c4 or Nf3 as my first move. I play d4 rarely, and not against highly rated competition, as I may not comfortable with anything except the Colle-Zukertort from the d4 opening.
