    Hi Everyone,

These are the openings we have done so far:

    Open Game: Evans Gambit

    Semi- Open Game: Scandinavian Defense

Don't you think we should do a closed game? How about the Dutch Defense?

Post some of the openings that you would like to do in the future. Notation is not neccesary.

    Thanks,

    Eric

I would like to do something semi simple but still halfway good. That is why I picked the Dutch Defense.

I would love to learn the Dutch Defense, so please do a topic on it.

Ok, here are the next openings, in the order we will do them:

    Dutch Defense

    Vienna Game

    Sicilian Defense, Dragon Variation

    Blackmar-Diemer Gambit

    Two Knight's Defense

    I haven't decided past there.

I would really reccomend you do a little reading on the Dutch and Vienna, so that you are not totally new to it.

tactician, we will definately do the Bb5+ Sicilian (Called the Moscow), It would be a good idea to do it right after the Dragon, so We will do it before the Two Knight's Defense.

    Updated list of future openings:

    Dutch Defense

    Vienna Game

    Sicilian Defense, Dragon  variation

    Blackmar- Diemer Gambit

    Sicilian Defense, Moscow variation

I'm not a fan of the Dutch after the coach at my local chess club showed how bad it looked for black if you attack the f pawn straight away with either e4 or g4.

Staunton's Gambit (2. e4) is a decent way of countering the Dutch. The Dutch Defense is a good opening, however,  and I hope to prove it to you when we study it.

Does anyone want to do a study of the Ruy Lopez?

Heh yeah, maybe you can show me that the Dutch can be good.

And on the Ruy Lopez: I think it's just too big and too many variations to cover right now. Maybe a basic study with a couple variations, but in it's entirety? No chance.

I agree Shruikon, the Ruy Lopez is kind of like the Sicilian. There are sooo many variations, it is impossible to discuss them all in detail. We could do the following:

    Do one variation

Just to a basic overview of the main variations.

Chesslover96, I would not mind about do a review of the Ruy Lopez Opening but I agree with Shruikon just focus on between one to three variations.

Yes, I think it is NOT a good idea to ignore the Ruy Lopez, but we should just to a basic intro to it. Then if anyone wants to go in depth, they can do it by themselves or with me.

Two other openings that I am intrested in. Please say if you are or are not intrested:

Bird System (1. f4) a lot better than it looks!

    Closed Sicilian ( 1. e4  c5  2. Nc3), is a positional opening. It is my Anti-Sicilian that I play.

    Ok, the plan is:

Spend about a week or less studying the Scandinavian

    Play the Scandinavian Defense tournament

Move on to the Dutch Defense

    Sound good?
