I was wondering what the consensus of opinion is regarding the Philidor Counter Gambit (C41). I'm not too familiar myself ,having only played it twice in my life (both here, both friendly games against my students). I've seen far more explosive examples, where White knew a little more. I include links to both games. Opinions please on the opening in general, and if you would, express your interest in playing a Philidor Counter Gambit Vote chess game.

...oh! and as a bonus a link to a rather better played game, enjoy!

.... and just one more, to prove that the opening is not the sole property of nutters and long dead, Victorian era players.

p.s. strange result to this one.... can anyone explain?
