The band that makes all budding musicians want to give up.

I think that that the word “genius” is a MASSIVELY overused word in the music industry but with Radiohead I think there is no denying it. Great lyrics, great vocals, great music and constant reinvention.  As regards to lyrics, just to show how far reaching they can go I’ll say something that happened on this site about 5 or 6 months ago. I got an e-mail (chess.com one) from an Italian guy that I have never seen/played before. All that the message said was, in block bold capitals: I’M A REASONABLE MAN, GET OFF MY CASE, GET OFF MY CASE! For a split second I thought I must have offended him on a forum or he was mistaking me for someone else but then I remembered (curse my memory, now if I could only remember my name. Maybe David Crosby???). Then for about 3 days we just messaged back and forth Radiohead lyrics, and nothing else and that was that. Very strange. Anyway, I think that one thing that shows that they are genius is that OK Computer is constantly being voted best album of all time (I think its too early to tell. Lol), yet I think Kid A is their best album. I have been obsessed with 80s music for a good few months now (Cure, Joy division, Pixies, Echo and the bunnymen et al) yet I always end up going back to Radiohead. A truly great band and I would probably be dead if it wasn’t for them.

Favourite song: Like spinning plates

Favourite Album: Kid A

Favourite Lyric: Here I’m allowed, everything all of the time…

Favourite video: Street spirit (fade out)

I couldn't agree more.  This band just gets better every listen, whether you've been spinning their records for a week or 5 years.

I will say that personally my favorite album is Hail to the Thief, which I understand is not the obvious choice...but nonetheless it is my favorite, particularly for night driving by myself.  Thats the beauty of radiohead, they are so diverse yet so cohesive.
