How did you go about getting members for your group? Any ideas on good ways to reach the type of constituents that are appropriate or you desire?

The group I manage is a national group so it was pretty easy for me. I just went to the members page, searched New Zealand and contacted first all of the most active members then the most recently logged in. I restricted my invitations to people whom had some games going and/or had quite a few points. I like people to be at least a little bit proven before accepting them into the group.

    Thoughts?

It's a bit tougher for my group.  My group is based on a love for video games.  There's no real way for me to search for gamers, so I just threw out a forum topic.

people started joining my group by themselve, I really didn't do much other than to provide as good chess related information in the forums as I could get my hands on, we also have pretty nice chess players albums, but most people who visite the group do not realize that they are there, the chess players albums are in the second page in the albums section (I accidentally deleted one of the best forums in the group Frown)

I was one of the moths that got drawn to the flame of your group, and I have found the topics most interesting.

I started the ChIP Club with the encouragement of some who joined. Then I have allowed it to grow slowly over the months. At times, I have left invitations in the larger groups. Also, a couple of times, I have messaged several players with whom I have shared a recent game who are not already members of the group.
