Seriwan Omega Chess

    I have an Idea that I have been working on for a new chess variant (curr4ent name is Seriwan Omega Chess, but will entertain Ideas for new names). The Idea combines the 10x10 board of Omega Chess (without the wizard squares) and the piece dropping of Seriwan Chess)

    The following is a list of the chess pieces in thier relative order of significance and their abreviations:

    K = King

    A = Avatar

    Q = Queen

    E = Elephant

    H = Hawk

    R = Rook

    B = Bishop

    C = Cavalier

    W = Wizard

    = Pawn

    The initial position is with in hand two wizards and one eacb of an elephant, hawk and avater; pawns starting on the second rank; the back rank with the following order:

    R C N B Q K B N C R

    When one of the pieces on the back rank moves the first time you may drop a piece from hand to the suare just vacated. when castleing, if you drop a piece you may only drop one and you must drop it in the square the king just left. notation is:  Bh4@W for example.

    Please do not post comments until Ihave finished posting the moves of the pieces.

    The king moves the same as in chess except that it moves three squares when caslting.  Check still aplies and checkmate is still the goal of the game.

    The whit king represents the piece bing discussed and the black pawns represent the suares that the piece can move to in all diagrams.

    the Avatar moves like a bishop, rook, and knight.

    Remember that "sliding moves" extend all of the way to the edge of the board.

    The Cavalier is a "jumping" piece. It can move either one square orthogaonally or on square orthogonally and two squares diagonally.

    The wizardis a "jumping piece" and moves as in Omega Chess.  That is one square diagonally or one square diagonally and two suares orthogonally.

    The knight is

    a "jumping piece" and moves as in chess. That is one square orthogonally and one square diagonally.

    The pawn is a sliding piece that move as in Omega chess.  That is it moves one suare directly forward only if not taking a piece or one square diagonally forward only if taking a piece.  It may move one, two, or three squares directly forward only if it has not yet moved this game and only if it is not taking a piece; "en passant" rules apply. When it reaches the opposite side of the board it is immedaitely exchanged for another piece of the following types: Night, Wizard, Cavalier, Bishop, Rook, Hawk, Elephant, or Queen (note this does not allow promotion to Avatar).

    Sounds fun.  Although I don't get why you used a king to represent every single piece.

    Would you like to play a game of Seirawan chess, just so i get the feel of it, and then I would gladly play a game of Seirawan Omega?

    I am leaving for cambodia in a couple of months.

    If you play a game of seriwan chess with some one else, when you finish I should be back from cambodia and we could play seriwan omega chess at that time.

    to Oinquarki: will you design a board?  Except for the avatar, you can use pieces you already have designed for seriwan and omega chess.

    I think there was another variant that had a piece called an amazon that moved the same as the Avatar. Also I'll use the champion for the Cavalier.

    Is this good?
