On Saturday, we played our first Speed Vote Chess game of the season, against "The Power of Chess" (or as Gabe calls them, "The Power of Checkers.")  Here is the game, with some comments:

The key to victory, as always, was teamwork.  If you look at the archives, you will see that we had 7-10 players active and voting for most of the moves, and most of our votes were unanimous.  We also had good discussions (in the Cave, not the archives), and even within 10 minutes we often looked at a good move, only to find a better move. I think that we only had one "drive-by" vote in the whole game, and it was cancelled out by well-thought out votes.

The other team had fewer voting players, and both of their major blunders happened when a single bad vote became the chosen move.

This was a good outing for the team.  We will surely have bigger challenges ahead of us this season.

Great job guys! I wish I could have been around to help with more of the game, but I'm glad you were able to play a very good game. Hopefully I'll be more able to help out next time.
