It is the season where the dead appear to live again.  Likewise, after the longest off-season in Speed Vote history, the league returns to life with Season 4:

First and foremost, I must thank Daws74 for the long hours he put into creating the Vote Chess ELO Ratings!!  That played a HUGE part in making up the schedule for this season.  Based on his hard work, I think this schedule is as evenly distributed as you could possibly hope for.

Next, I must introduce my partners in crime: Alan_Tudor and blackfirestorm666.  What they say goes.  All 3 of us are on the exact same page as far as making sure everything is fair and fun for everyone.  So whenever I'm not online, I trust their judgement completely.  We are all available to help you with whatever issue or need that may arise.  The top priority of this league is to HAVE FUN!!!  If you're not having fun, what's the point?

There are only 18 teams this season (the lowest we've ever had), so the competition will be that much thicker.  Don't take any opponent for granted.  Anything can happen on Any Given Saturday. 

Everyone will be playing 5 games in the regular season.  Once per month from November thru March.  Each game must be played in the month that it is scheduled in order to count.  Everyone has the schedule for the entire season and 2-3 contacts for each group, so there is absolutely no excuse for not playing one game per month.  It is the responsibility of the individual groups to schedule and play their required games.  The League HQ is not responsible for games that don't get scheduled and will only step in if there is a problem.

Go Dark Knights Go!!

Yeah, I'd REALLY like to make it to the playoffs this time!!  After all, this is MY #1 league, and MY #1 group hasn't even made it to the playoffs once.    But 4 is my lucky number, and Batman is in the logo for the league this season, so this is OUR TIME!!!  Let's kick some butt!!

 

Our opponents:

November - The Power of Chess (one of the biggest teams on Chess.com - but their playing strength is inconsistent, so as long as we play our game as well as I know we can, we should be alright)

December - Icelandic Group (the newest addition to the Speed Vote League, but they've played enuf games to earn a decent rating, so we can't take them for granted)

January - Chess Team Holland (the most inexperienced Speed Vote Team in the league, which could also mean they have an ace up their sleeve that no one has seen yet).

February - Light Force (probably the most even of all the matches.  we should be able to come out on top if we apply ourselves, but we can't get sloppy)

March - Red Army (probably our toughest match - they will not time out, and will definitely make us work for it)

 

So as you can see, every game is winnable, and every game is lose-able.  Let's all put forth a good concentrated effort.  I don't mind if the other team wins, but I hate it when we lose.  As long as we play our best, if the other team simply plays better, that's fine.  That's going to happen.  But I HATE it when we give away a game that we could have won.  Let's really try this time around.  Thanks.

 

I've proposed that the November game be played on the 12th.  Are they any preferences for the remaining months? 

December - 10th or 17th?

January - 7, 14, 21, 28

February - 4, 11, 18, 25

March - 3, 10, 17, 31

I did not understand this rating thing, nor how we got this 1300. I mean, is that really what we are? 1300?? We are number 41 in the website..
Otherwise, I'm excited to play with the Dark Knights, it's a great team, and this season we shall get a remarkable results.

Our rating for Long Time Controls (1-day or more/turn) is 1478.  1338 is our Short Time Control rating (less than 1-day per turn).

The leaderboard is based more upon quantity of games than the quality of wins.  The ratings for Vote Chess Teams can be found here:

For long time control the only teams over 1800 are Sac Sac Mate (1855) and Team Canada (1803).  The top rating in short time control is currently 1680.  We are #19 in Short Time games, and #97 in Long games.
