    Hi,

A group of Vote Chess Teams called the Vote Chess League is organising an Open Swiss Vote Chess Tournament.

    * The tournament is open to all groups that play Vote Chess.
    * The tournament consist of 9 consecutive rounds, so we only play one vote game at a time.
    * Playing tempo is 1 day per move.
    * Pairing is done on the basis of the Swiss system, which means that our team will be pitted against another team that has done as well (or as poorly) as our own team.
    * At the end of the registration period, a schedule will be published of fixtures.
    * Players who are a member of more than one team, are strongly encouraged to impose self-discipline and play all games of the tournament with the same team.

They are looking for at least 18 teams in the tournament, with a maximum of 30. End of registration is 28 March 2009. The tournament is set to start on 1 April 2009.

    My questions:
    * Would we like to play this tournament as The Stonewall Attack group?
    * If you are a member of other groups and this topic has not been posted in your group yet, could you post it in your group please? That way we can drum up some more interest. Wink

We had a discussion about this. Frankly, I don't really see a problem with playing on more than one group. But it was felt by the others that if two of your teams play eachother, then one of your teams is going to be disadvantaged.
But it is not practical to "enforce" this, so it is now a strong recommendation.

why is it one day per move game...i think its quite too fast...considering players could be of different time zone.

Different teams have different preferences for playing tempo. For example, the French Defence Fanatics like 1 day/move, the Indian Marauders 3 days/move. But since the tournament is 9 consecutive rounds, anything more than 1 day/move is going to take too long. My best advice is: try to discuss as much as possible in your opponents time.

I can play for this team but ive been longer in the bird's opening group, and I first play the bird or the dutch and only after do i choose if Id like a stonewall although a good number of times i do ex. against kings indiand. So stonewall is a subfield of my opening

Yes, you make some kind of sense Lucid, LOL!
Here is another consideration: when two of your teams collide, choose the team where you have the most impact.

Anyway, does the Stonewall Attack group want to join the Open Swiss? Wink
