    Hello, elxan!

I don't know which one is the best engine for Linux, but I can tell you I use the Toga II (can be found in the Ubuntu repositories as "toga2") and I think it's good engine. It can reach 13 half-moves in less than 15 seconds in the average position. I don't know how good is that, but it's been enough for me.

In an endgame position, it can reach 18 half-moves in 15 seconds.

I'm using an Intel 2.4GHz for that.

The source code to be compiled can be found here: http://www.superchessengine.com/toga_ii.htm.

I'm using the 1.4.1 version, the one available in the repository.

    Hope I could help!
