Hi! "chess hustlers" I am Emory Tate president of your Hall of Traps, I just learned a beautiful opening combination which I plan to use in my next tournament, you think you can learn as beautiful opening traps as I have learned, if so post them to this forums and let us all see it

Bill Wall chess traps II page recomended http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lab/7378/traps2.htm

also check out Marshall's traps: http://www.chessbase.com/columns/levpics/games/marshall.htm

note: if you really want to make an impression in "the chess hustler" Hall of traps you even have the option of making and posting a chess video with sound to the internet (you can do that by using this following site http://www.chessvideos.tv ) , you can get the directions on how to make and post the video by clicking on beginner's videos and then clicking on the (how to) links on next page, then all you will need to do is come back to this forum post your work here using our diagram features and let's us know about your video with sound related to the game at www.chessvideos.tv site, by giving us a direct link to your video..

warning!! it is good idea to study openings combinations and traps so you will have a "feel" for them, but it is not good idea to base your opening preparation on traps,  most opennig traps are not likely to work against very experienced players, so be selective when deciding which traps to include in your opening repertoire since only the longest/more complex traps are likely to work more often..

oh surprice!, check out this page tribute to one of the best chess tacticians of all times, we hope you like it, enjoy! http://www.chessbase.com/columns/column.asp?pid=134

Note: this post was no written by Emory Tate, this post is just a motivational idea from The chess hustler Club

this is a nice trap which is part of my opening repertoir, it happens in the accelatated Dragon when your opponent insist on castling wrong using an accidental wrong move

that trap is something most students of the accelerated dragon know, but yes you are correct, Roman talks about this trap in several of his DVDs, it is nothing complicated really, I just thought it was cool to show it, for those who might not know it

(there should to be a trap called, enter the dragon :-)

After reading this forum yesterday, I thought I'd try to work a trap.  He came barreling out the gate with his queen just trying to reek havoc, it threw me for a loop, but I knew I could use it to my advantage.  I am looking for opinions and advice on my trap (if it could be considered that).

bradyJ an opening or middlegame trap happens when  player (B) is tricked by his opponent player (A) into making a move which seems to be a good move but is not since his opponent player (A) can take advantage of it by forcing a conbination which will give him a better or won game

in the game you showed above it was more a matter of one player making really bad blunders and the other player getting the better game as a consequence

this following is a game sequence which more or less ilustrates the concept of opening trap:

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Bc4 Bg4 4.Nc3 g6 5.Nxe5 BxQ 6.Bxf7 Ke7 7.Nd5 checkmate (a trap doesn't nessesarily has to lead to a checkmate) (traps can happen throughout the opening and the middlegame, they don't have to happen right out of the opening)

How do you force your opponent to move where you need them for traps like the platypussy to work?

I just clarified in the post above that it had not been written by Emory Tate, and that it had been just a motivational idea from the Chess hustler Club
