I am sponsoring The Star Circuit tournament, which will begin on April 3. To register, just post on this forum. This will be organized as a Swiss-system tournament. The start of each round will be announced. When you get paired up and the round begins, you will have 4 days to schedule a game with your opponent.

  • The time constraints will be 10 0 (blitz)
  • Disconnects will be considered as a draw, so make sure you can play a full game without disconnecting
  • When you are finished with each game, message me the link to your game (if you don't know how to do that, ask me or another admin)
  • If, for any reason, there is suspicion of cheating, I will look over the game personally (a computer plays by statistics, which is easy to distinguish from human play)

On March 27, after you have registered, your blitz rating will be the rating used to pair you up. I repeat, your blitz rating on March 27 will be the rating used.

The main time zone will be UTC-5, or Eastern Standard Time in the Americas. For example, 18:00 (6:00pm for you Americans) will be 4:00 (4:00am) in Mumbai, which is UTC+5. Everyone is welcome to enter this tournament, but if you feel that you might not be able to play because of your time zone, please message me. If there are many people who are spread out like this, then I will divide the tournament by regions also, to accomodate for the time difference.

If you do not know what the Swiss-system is, then do some research, or you might find yourself confused about how you will be paired.

Registration ends on March 27, so sign up now!

Any questions?

Edits

Since the Tournament has been postponed, the dates above have been changed appropriately.

I have a solution to the time zone difference, but it will only work if there are more people participating in the tourney. If enough people register, then the tournament will be split up into three regions:

  • Western Region (GMT-8 through GMT-4)
  • Central Region (GMT-2 through GMT+5)
  • Eastern Region (GMT+6 through GMT+11)

When you register, you will be assigned to a specific region, based on the country that appears on your chess.com account.
I have know way of knowing if you live in a certain area or not, so please make sure that your country of origin is correct.

If, however, you would like to choose which region you play in, please contact me personally.

Thanks for your interest!

don t agree with the rule "draw on disconnect" if you get disconnected you should lose, otherwise, the door will be open for cheaters. How do you feel about it?

Loss by Disconnect sounds a little harsh, especially since some people can't control when they disconnect. I might change the rule to Rematch on Disconnect.
