what happens if we underpromote and then upgrade?

By "underpromoting" do you mean:

Anything other than a queen

Anything other than an elephant

Anything other than an amazon

All of the above

2. Nf3

for example: I promote to a queen and later upgrade to an amazonr by placing an elephant.  then you capture the avatar.  do you get nothing ar do you get the elephant or do you get the avatar,.

and if you get nothing how is this indicated on the board.

notice the Iget nothing for promoted pawns increases the possibility of under promotion:  you promote pawn to rook on protected square ; I definitely donot take it with an elephant, and might not take it with bishop.

Well, I don't know... maybe promoted pieces that get captured is used as the promoted piece?
