Aloha Hawaii Warriors Team, due to abnormal format changes in an active match tournament, our participation in the USA Team League will not be continuing to round 3. The first two rounds we allowed the changes to show faith in the TD's, but now they wanted form using a Swiss tournament system to one that was date depended and no longer assure teams of a pairing system. 

Also no promises there would not be any additional changes to the tournaments format. I tried to assist as much as possible, but TD's had a concern that the tournament would last to long, duh this turn-base chess folks they do last long!

I suggested they make their changes only for season 2 and leave season 1 alone, buy they continued wanting pairing's done in a abnormal format based with incomplete results of know what team had enough points to win the match.

So to avoid further discussion I elected to withdraw our team as I had enough.

Note: Please do continue your game sin round 1 and 2 sorry for any inconvenience. I will be sure any future team matches we enter we have no such changes as those we experienced.

Aloha Hawaii Warriors - US Chess League want to know if anyone is interested in starting a new a "Hawaii Team" group, yes you will need a new admin as I not going to mange that group.

The reason is see link - http://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/hawaii-chess-warriors-departure

They need to know ASAP so they can add the New "Team Hawaii" to replace the Hawaii Warriors. If you read the link above you'll understand a bit more as to why this happen. They are good people but to wishy-washy for my taste, they want quick results without looking is it the best way to a mange a team event. Its there first year doing this so its a learning lessons, as they are do seen to be real TD's they have little understanding why we we use Swiss pairing rules, so they are looking at looking like they know what they doing, but they are trying! So I hope if they have a Season 2 they have the rules set in stone to avoid the mess they caused in rounds one and two of Season 1, they wanted to do the same to the rest of the rounds too.

So if anyone is interested go ahead and start a new Hawaii Team and invite members no hard feelings you can stay with us as well, no reason why not!

1. Tournament format for each division:

Choice of:
a) 7 or 8 Rounds Swiss depending on number of teams per division, no playoff
 
2. Maximum size of teams per division (depends somewhat on answer to 1)

a) 10 and b) are both ok

3. Min number of pairings per division 

a) A=14, B= 8, C=2

4. Promotion/Relegation

How many teams should go up/down per division?

d) Other: 3 in case of 12 team division, 2 in case of 10 team division  but very open about it

5. When should Season 2 start?

a) January 2011 with willingness to push the date a little bit back up to maybe End February/early March in order to minimize the impact on the teams currently playing in season 1. Some of them will have to face a double schedule but as these are likely to be the larger teams this would be more manageable.
