No, we don´t have to ignore them, but there is lots of quotes in the bible where we can se that animals uses as sacrifice to God, and lot´s of people who eat meat, Abraham, for exampel in Genesis 18

    Genesis 9:

1And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

2And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

3Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

4But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

    God bless

For me, the more critical aspect is to make sure that my diet promotes the health of my body and maximizes its potential because it is a temple for the Holy Spirit.

So, I choose generally to eat poultry and beef only on limited occasions (once or twice a month) for the simple reason that those foods tend to make me feel tired.  On the other hand, I eat fish several times a week because of the protein content (and other health benefits --- e.g. the fatty acids) and because it does not impact my physical alertness!
