    Hi Lowded,

The best start, believe it or not, is learning your endgames. It is a lot better to learn the basics of chess with only a small number of pieces on the board than it is with all 32!

    Check out http://chesstalk.com/boutique/store/

Click "chess books" then "beginners" and you will find a list of books available.

While learning chess openings is a vital part of playing chess, I recommend only a very basic opening knowledge to begin with while you are learning endgames and tactics. If you need more help, send me a message here.

    Happy King hunting!!

Hi, I'd really appreciate a mentor. I don't think I have a rating yet, unless the tactics trainer rating counts. Please let me know to proceed.

I'm looking for a little more solid middlegame principles and theory lessons.  I have a lot of solid endgame theory and a few comfortable openings, but I always seem to blunder or miss a solid line right in the middle of the game.  Any good book recomendations or mentors out there?
