My drum teacher swore that one day he was going to compose a solo playing on nothing but various toilet seats.
My kit is a 1965 Slingerland - blue tiger stripe. I LOVE it!!
My set is compiled of many sets, and it was my older brother's set before he died, so idk what all the brands are that are in it, but its a good set and it's lasted me for 15 years.
I started out with a standard kit and played in the basement when the folks were out. That basement was to be graced by several very successful recording artists during their formative years. I play regularly in a few groups. The largest is a huge Open Drum Circle which meets once a week on the village green, and in the Magic Meadow for every full moon, every solstice, every equinox, every excuse we can muster. The mountains they do rumble.
I thoroughly enjoy playing hollow blocks, clave, tambourine, slide whistle, bodhran, ashiko, and conga, but most of my time is spent on the djun-djuns and the djembe.
Drum for peace! Welcome home!
6 piece Purple Pearl kit, with ebony heads on the non-batters...looks great under the lights from the audience perspective..."Pace Makers" could not find history...I believe they are from the 70's. Double pedal and Hi-hat by Iron Cobra.
Also have wind chimes, blocks, cowbells, and many cymbals, mostly Sabian with Alpha Paiste hats...the China boy and China splash among my favorites, although my 10" fan could be my favorite accessory.
I am an "Aboriginal" drummer using mostly my hands on my belly, the steering wheel, the driver's side truck door and my son's head. I have been known to sit in with Dream Theater, Tool, Queensryche, the Doobie and the Allman Bros. and various other bands in my garage. I can only get away with drumming on my belly with my hands when I'm working with Santana. The other bands require me to use my basic Pearl kit with added 8" and 10" Tama toms and Dixon double bass pedal. Besides the basic crash and ride I have added 18" and 14" Chinas and three (3) 10" ers I like to call Splash, Dash and Ding. These are mixed Sabian and Zildjian. Not being sponsored yet, I select my cymbals by sound and not by brand. The occasional gig with the Moody Blues requires that I pull out the secret weapon ... a 22" Gong by Zildjian. When I get big I want some Congas and Bongos and some windchimes.
