Univeral studios has announced that they will produce a movie for the book 'Eye of the World'
This is even better than I was hoping for! I thought one movie per 3 books. Anyway here is the rest of the article.
Universal Pictures has acquired film rights to the late Robert Jordan's bestselling "The Wheel of Time" novel series in a seven-figure deal.
Adaptations of the fantasy tomes will begin with the first book in the cycle, "The Eye of the World."
Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon will produce for Red Eagle Entertainment, which published graphic novel adaptations of Jordan's books.
"The Wheel of Time" follows, among its dozens of characters, Rand al’Thor, the latest incarnation of a force for good called "The Dragon." Rand is born to fight an evil character called Shai’tan.
"Wheel of Time" books have sold 44 million copies worldwide and spawned computer, trading-card and role-playing games; a soundtrack; comicbooks; and numerous fan sites. The four most recent installments have reached No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list.
The property has been optioned before, notably in 2000, when NBC held the rights to make a miniseries based on "The Eye of the World."
Jordan died last year at 58, but the final book in the series is still set for publication in fall 2009, with fellow fantasy scribe Brandon Sanderson writing the novel’s conclusion from Jordan’s notes and tapes.
Me too, the books are better so it shouldnt be hard to make a better movie, lol. Does anyone know anything about the two producers?
Also, I just want to point out to everyone or anyone who thinks this might be just a trading game between studios... the article reads that it was 'in a seven figure deal.' I doubt someone would spend $millions$ on nothing, but I could be wrong. I am not in the biz.

This is good news! I hope they make a good movie adaptation, with attention to detail.
Nothing, however, will EVER beat the books, no matter how good it is. There's nothing like curling up to read a good book, and better still if it's The Wheel of Time.

when your right, your right! hopefully they will stay as true to the books as time allows. and they'd better cast with care.
Hey everybody, I was just reading the last blog of Robert Jordan and I thought I would post a quote from it here. It is dated Aug 22nd 2007 (he died on Sept 16 2007) making this his very last blog.
“I hear things now and then floating out in the air. For instance, I hear that word was floating about ComicsCon in San Diego that I am displeased with Red Eagle. Too true. Too very true. In a few more months that last contract they have with anyone on God’s green earth that so much as mentions my name will come to an end and we can see what happens after that. You see, among other things they forgot an old dictum of LBJ back when he was just a Congressman from Texas, when he famously, or infamously, said “Don’t spit in the soup. boys. We all have to eat.” Worse, Red Eagle though they could tell me they spit in the soup, or pee in it, if they wanted to and there wasn’t anything I could do to stop them. You can’t apologize your way out of that with me, not that they tried. There isn’t enough money in the world to buy your way out of it with me. Not that they tried that either. So they get no further help from me. Once they are completely out of the picture, we’ll see what happens.”
Anyway, I know that to be a fan of the series you value RJ's thoughts so I thought you would want to know that. I am looking for a place where I can sign my name or write a letter to stop Red Eagle from continuing and to get someone else to make the movie. Also of note, I was reading in another website about the up and coming DBZ movie cuz I am a huge anime fan andwhile I was reading about that movie I found out that the anime sites are really excited about the WoT movie too. This of course got me curious to know why they would be excited about a live action movie and it turns out that they are highly anticipating Wheel of Time to be 12 cartoon movies. That just got me looking harder to find out how to stop Red Eagle. They could be very mistaken and they did not have any sources to back this up but another website was also predicting this (again, no sources.) Just FYI stuff. Hope all are well!- David
