I learned to play chess by watching my friends play the game in the 1960s. Naitigil ko lang ang paglalaro ng chess dahil I was studying and was in the movies, I was dancing the ballroom dance and playing basketball. Naituloy ko lang ang paglalaro ng chess more or less 10 years ago and I'm still learning the strategy of chess dahil napakababa nang rating ko.

Thank you. How about you? I also posted this topic at the general forum.

how i learn to play chess? well i used to wash our dishes every after meal, i got so tired of it that i complain to my dad, my dad say's that if i can beat him in chess, he will do the dishes, my dad is also a school chess champion, so i try vey hard to learn the game, we play & i continue to do the dishes, we play & play & play until im stong enough to give him a hard time, and finally he can beat me no more. So now its him doing the dishes every single night.

Well my cousin thought me how to play this game, first he taught me the moves of each pieces (except castling). It all started when I was 7 years old, I'm a fanatic of the game Checkers (A.K.A. dama) that time and I'm kinda confuse because playing dama here in our place the King, Queen and two Bishops are not used and now all of a sudden a big question mark hits me and asked my older cousin. "Why those pieces are not used", is it only intended to use when you promote a pawn in Checkers and as I'm asking him, he told me that "those pieces are only used in the game of Chess" and that started my journey to play this wonderful game.

-peace
